"Gap Kids - Taylor", acrylic on inkjet print, 12" X 12", 2002

“GAP Kids” is explores identity and how it is framed early in childhood. Media and society mandate what we are supposed to look like and be like, and all ages are a “segment”. This is most clearly evident in parenting magazines where Gerber babies become GAP kids. For this series I appropriated GAP pictures, enlarged them and painted on them with acrylic.
