"They" multi-channel video installation

"They" explores gender fluidity, and our curiosity, fear, and attraction towards the exotic merger of masculine and feminine. The playwright and performer Kevin Ottem-Fox, created the character Andrognykka for musical theater. Andrognykka normally resides on a stage in full make-up and costume, engaging the audience with audacious musical numbers. Vocally silenced in “They”, and with makeup and costumes stripped away, Kevin uses presence and gesture to communicate Andrognykka's identity to three separate audiences.
Left screen: uninformed, open. Center screen: threatened, hostile. Right screen: embracing. Andrognykka embodies the roles of educator, defender, and seducer (or the seduced).
